The Tomb Raider franchise has quite a storied history that spans from its first titular video game released in 1990. With plenty of sequels, spinoffs comics, novels, and films to follow the shadow of the tomb rate was released on the 12th of September, 2018 and is the third entry in the reboot series that debuted in 2013 and is a direct sequel to the rise of the tomb rate released in 2015.

 You'll reprise your role as Laura Craft and aristocrat turned archeologist Explorer and the part-time angel of death. You have your usual suite of tools, equipment, and skills carried over from the previous. But you now also can repel, which will allow you to safely descend from dangerous Heights. 

You can live or fulfill some of your extreme expedition fantasies vicariously through Laura. The definitive edition of the game will give you access to unique skins, outfits, and weapons, as well as a few more side, quests, and tombs.

At the end of the video, I'll be providing a summary as well as my thoughts about playing the game to be 100% complete. Shadow of the tomb radar has a great setting and an even better-built world. The settlements in the rainforest are visually spectacular and a pleasure to traverse. The first village you enter is a great taste of things that await you on your journey.

And that's a plus, or maybe not, depending on what you like, the tombs are commercial break. It seemed a worthy event. Right? What is this? Hmm, sorry. Where was I? Oh, yes. The tombs are meticulously built and well constructed. These are designed to be optional standalone expeditions, not necessary to the main story, but may well be with your time because not only are they fun, but some skills are only obtainable by completing tombs.

The puzzles are challenging and will give you the appropriate amount of mental anguish tailored to your difficulty settings. Each tomb is unique with a unique set of puzzles that will give you more of a challenge as you progress through the story with your expanded toolkit. Unlike some games that have an abundance of side missions, there are only a handful of side missions here.

These missions are fully fleshed out, giving you insight into the culture of the locals and indigenous people, as well as unlocking options that would otherwise be closed. There are Explorer packs that will reveal hidden artifacts in each. Most were unique and interesting, but many of the item models were recycled and reused.

Each item is fully narrated, so you can sit back and listen to the stories. There are also three languages that Laura can learn with multiple levels of mastery, each level, unlocking additional missions, or even more collectibles. Missing collectibles along the way was not a problem. As the fast travel system always puts you within walking distance of any that escaped your grasp experienced players or veterans of the series may want to play on the hard difficulty called one with a jungle, which can provide a great balance of challenge and reward.

However, depending on your aptitude for puzzles or combat, you can tailor your experience by changing these settings. Anytime during the game with easier difficulties, providing more accessibility by providing audio hints through Laura, mark ledges, aim, assist, and more highlighted items. When using survival instincts, the controls are smooth, responsive, and precise, which makes reversal through the dense south American rain voice.

I played on PC with the mouse keyboard throughout your adventure, you can swing like Spider-Man park or like an assassin and run like AIA the room from a plague tail innocence. Yeah. In cinematic chase sequences. And while each of those respective games may do them better. They're still well executed here and being able to experience all these traversal elements in a single game made playing shadow of the tomb Raider, a very fulfilling experience.

There are plenty of materials scattered throughout Peru, ranging from natural materials, found in the wild to salvage materials left over from humans. You can use these materials to upgrade your equipment. Like in the previous two entries, you'll also be able to find and buy new outfit designs that you can.

Each outfit may give small bonuses, such as hunter or gatherer perks, but it won't affect the game. Too much. Outfits will change the way you look and may even change how locals interact with you. Combat is a mixture of stealth, assassinations, and projectile weaponry. Attempting this stealth route is more challenging as you'll have to plan your attacks.

Going in guns blazing is as simple as finding cover and picking up enemies. Most of the time, I would attempt the steal route before making an inevitable misstep causing me to have to finish off the remaining enemies. The gunplay isn't a strong suit of this game, but I found it to be fine for the most part.
